What’s on in Devon this summer?

Are you planning your holiday to Devon for summer 2015? Whether you’re staying here at Edge House or somewhere else in the region, you’ll find that you’re never too far from one of the many events that are taking place across the region! Here’s our rundown of some of the key events that are happening in Devon during the summer months...


  • Exeter Respect FestivalSaturday 6th and Sunday 7th of June sees the city’s annual celebration of diversity. Performing and creative arts are used to engage the wider community and encourage people to say no to racism and prejudice.
  • Teignmouth Folk FestivalFrom 19th to 21st June the seaside resort of Teignmouth plays host to the annual folk festival. If folk music is your thing then this is the place to be! Folk artists such as The Young ‘Uns, John Kirkpatrick, Nick Dow, and The New Scorpion Band are playing the festival this year.


  • Let’s Rock ExeterOn Saturday 4th July, Powderham Castle in Exeter plays host to a plethora of 80s pop and rock acts, including Bananarama, Billy Ocean, Nik Kershaw, Midge Ure, Brother Beyond, and many others. If you can’t get to Exeter on the 4th, don’t worry, the show is touring the UK!
  • Tiverton Balloon FestivalTaking place from Friday 10th to Sunday 12th July at Tiverton High School, the festival is an exciting hot air ballooning, music, and aerial extravaganza not to be missed!
  • Lammas Fair ParadeOn Friday 17th July the city of Exeter upholds the tradition of celebrating the Lammas Fair, which was when the first fruits of the harvest were offered to the Church in the form of a loaf. The Lord Mayor will lead a procession down the High Street from 11:30am, finishing at the Cathedral Yard where the annual craft fair is then opened for the weekend.
  • Exeter Craft FestivalOn Friday 17th and Saturday 18th July Exeter’s Cathedral Green plays host to a celebration of the best artists and craftspeople in the South West. Over 100 stalls provide the perfect opportunity to pick up a unique, hand-crafted item direct from the artist.


  • Big Screen in the ParkFrom the 12th to 15th of August Northernhay Gardens in Exeter is home to a huge 10 metre cinema screen. Films are screened in the open air at around 9pm, don’t forget your popcorn!
  • Dawlish Air ShowOn Saturday 22nd August the seaside town of Dawlish will be awash with over 80,000 people as an array of aircraft take to the skies to put on an award-winning air show. If you’re in the area on Friday 21st there’s also a family fun day happening prior to the air show.
