A Guide to Devon’s World Class Golf Courses

You may not know but Devon is home to some of the best golf courses in the UK. Whether you’re an avid golfer and can be found on the course as often as Rory Mcilroy, or have only discovered the great game, coming to Devon you’ll be spoilt for choice.

Devon’s climate lends itself perfectly to the game of golf. With mild weather and spectacular greenery as far as the eye can see, golfers the world over flock to Devon for a round or two each and every year.

Here are two courses that every golfer really should visit when in Devon.

Thurlestone Golf Club

Renowned for not only world class golf but tennis, Thurlestone Golf Club is a mere stones’ throw from a selection of Devon’s premier golf courses. Running along the coast of Bigbury Bay, Thurlestone Golf Club offers a blend of links and cliff top terrain. Walking round the course you’ll be able to enjoy views of Plymouth to the west and Bolt Tail to the east.

The eighteen hole course is a challenging and gratifying day of golf. Between the spectacular views to the pristine greens, this well-maintained course is a real golfer’s paradise.

Tiverton Golf Club

Established in 1932 Tiverton Golf Club is a sixteen hole course that even the most accomplished of golfers would find challenging. Those intending to embark on their first round, or who’ve only been playing the sport for a short period of time, be wary it’ll be difficult to post an impressive score.

Players will be treated to wonderful South Westerly countryside views, meticulously manicured greens and lush fairways. Famed for its opening hole, ranked as one of the, if not the, best hole in Devon County Tiverton is one course every ardent golfer has to play.
