4 things to do in a guest house that you can't do at home

We all lead such busy lives, constantly juggling work, family, and social commitments, so a holiday is the perfect opportunity to get away from your everyday life and relax for a week or two. Our gorgeous five star luxury guest house in Branscombe, Devon is the perfect place to relax and get away from it all for a while. Holiday life is great, and routine can go out of the window for a while! There are a number of things that you can do in a guest house which you can’t often do in your day to day life...

  • Have a lie in: Can you remember the last time you were able to turn off the alarm clock? During the week your alarm clock drags you out of bed to get to work, and you probably fill your weekends by catching up with friends, getting housework and DIY done, and going to the supermarket etc. If all of those early rises and busy days get you down then make the most of staying in a guest house where you can sleep in as late as you like. Edge House is self-catering too, so there’s no early breakfast wakeup call; although you will have to make your own eggs when you rise!
  • Stay up late: Having to get up early for work usually means going to bed early most of the time in order to avoid over-tiredness. If you’re fed up of being tucked up in bed by 10pm on weeknights then you can relax a little on your holiday and stay up as late as you like! We’ve already established that holidaying in a guest house, especially a self-catering one, means that you can lie in for as long as you like the next day.  Spend your evenings sat out in the garden drinking wine, playing board games, chatting with your holiday companions etc until whatever time you like!
  • Take a long soak in the tub: When you’re at home it can be hard to enjoy a good soak in the bath when your kids or spouse are waiting to use the bathroom, or ask you where their clean pants are, or what’s for tea etc. Staying in a guest house means you can find the time to relax and enjoy the little things that you don’t always get to do at home. Here at Edge House our rooms are equipped with en suite bathrooms, complete with whirlpool baths. Pour yourself a glass of wine, grab your book, lock the door and enjoy some peace and quiet for an hour. Or why not take the opportunity to spend some quality time with your partner in our large, relaxing baths?
  • Make time for relaxation: Spending time at a guest house, whether it’s a long weekend or a week’s holiday, is the perfect opportunity to relax. Going on day trips is fun, but make sure you leave part of your holiday to chance too. Perhaps you could go for a relaxing country walk one evening, followed by a lovely home-cooked meal. Maybe you could use this extra time to practice yoga and reconnect with your inner self. If you’re an avid painter or photographer you might find it relaxing to devote a day or two to your hobby; something that you don’t get to do often in the humdrum of life.
